When Santa visited Rosemont for the RCA Annual Santa Parade, he was collecting toys for the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department (SSD) annual toy drive. As “elves” passed out candy and safety information, they also received lots of toys from children along the route and put them in “sleds” following the fire truck on which Santa was riding. These toys were then turned over to the SSD. This new way of doing the toy drive netted many times more toys than we previously collected.
Rosemont has always been generous in supporting those who are in need, and our annual toy drive is a great way to help youngsters whose families are struggling to keep their lives together. All the toys RCA collects go to needy children in our area to help make their holiday a bit merrier. To appreciate that wonderful feeling, just recall how you felt when you got something special under the tree. That’s how some lucky kids are going to feel this year, thanks to our generous donors who helped make the Rosemont community a little more special.
Our thanks go out to Dee Gavaldon for coordinating this generous event, as well as the countless “elves” and Santa!
